Post Kookipi Pass - Sat 26th June (Changed!)
Hello,

Due to a fire on East Harrison we will not be traversing Kookipi Pass. The new plan is to meet in Hope at the Chevron Gas Station (https://goo.gl/maps/a5bPwpZYq7SeWeFS6) at 10am. We will proceed on Highway 1 to Boston Bar and North Bend and from there will enter Nahatlatch Provincial Park. Plan will be to go to Grizzly Falls, and Nahatlatch Fire Tower before returning to the area of North Bend and Boston Bar and then finally back home. If you are coming on this run, please indicate your interest so that we don't leave without you. :-)

Stock vehicles on 33 can make this run.

---------Trip Report---------
Met with 4Runner1, Tina, Emmeli, Gotatruck, and Filip and the Chevron Gas Station in Hope. We proceeded to Boston Bar and through North Bend to Nahatlatch Park. Aired down tires and headed for the Fire Lookout Tower. Next destination was Grizzly Falls. Has a couple of stops to have a look at the natural beauty of the area. We split up as one member wanted to camp overnight, a couple of us wanted to check out Kookipi Pass and the sane team headed for the highway and home. It was hot and it was dusty but we stayed safe, supported each other, and had a great time. Filip managed to find the son of the Grizzly that own Grizzly falls (very cordial interaction).

I've been keeping track of what people are saying about the avalanche. Best source i have found is: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=11 ... 2434736009 ... May be open by the 26th, may be not. No guarantees in the big outback... :-P

Hey guys. My little guy wants to do an overnight as well, so we will probably branch off at the end of the day outing with the group and stay up in the Nahatlatch area.

There was a rather substantial avalanche on Kookipi Pass this last winter. The amount of snow that created the avalanche is very large, and when that much snow is involved in an avalanche and the avalanche stops, it freezes into solid ice. The ice is cold enough at the center that its melt cycle can be long. Good news is that enough people have one up to the avalanche point that they have carved out a path on the avalanche so that it is passable. Just think of it as a fun obstacle to pass. :-) ... this run is till on as is is posted.

Unfortunately, I am out. My Jeep is still not in A1 top mechanical condition.
Have fun everybody, stay safe, and stay cool.
