Post July 1 long weekend camping trip - Copper Creek
The plan for the July 1 long weekend is camping at Copper Creek. July 1 falls on a Monday so it is a true long weekend. Arrive on Friday night (or Saturday morning), wheel on Saturday and Sunday, head home on Monday.

The Ashnola traverse should be driveable by this long weekend. We can do some other exploring in the area as well.

The campsite has an outhouse as the only facility so plan to bring everything you need with you.

Post up if you plan to attend!

Hi Paul, has the destination for Sunday and Monday been determined yet for this weekend?

Saturday will be the traverse over to Ashnola and out at Keremeos. Sunday we will try to run the Whipsaw. Monday is probably just packing up and heading home.

Looking forward to our first 4x4 camping trip in years with our Jeep.

Does anyone have the GPS coordinates for the camping site and the track for Ashnola and out to Keremeos

(It could be a wet weekend)

Gilles

Best guess for GPS coordinates is this. N49.166038, W120.507811

I stole this from one of Wes's old posts:

Take HWY 3 through Manning Park.
9KM east of East Gate in the hair pin, is Placer Mt FSR. It is on the south side of the highway.
Take this road, cross the bridge, up the hill and once the road flattens out, there is a road up and to the right. Should also be signed Placer Mt fsr.
Go all the way to the top. As I recall, there is a fork at about 12k. Stay right and it should start to go down hill at that point.
Further down, there is a sweeping corner to the right, and then you will come across a cattle corral on your left. Short ways after, there will be a road to your left. Take this left and then look for the camping area. Should you miss the turn you will come to a bridge. That is your clue that you missed the turn.

Laurie and I are hoping to go. We would travel up Saturday morning to meet the Herd.
What time is everyone heading out from camp for the Saturday run?
Is there enough room available for us to pitch a tent for Saturday night?

The plan is to leave around 10am on Saturday.

There should be lots of room for you to set up camp.

If I remember correctly, the BCF Rec Site is kinda like an open field....
