Post May Long Weekend - Now Booked
As we discussed at last night's meeting, I went online to book the group site at Conkle Lake. All was well until I reached the Check Out screen. At that point, instead of it being $240 for the weekend, the cost shot up to $485. Apparently, the $240 just gets you the site. Each adult at the campsite adds another $5 plus GST to the total cost, so with a minimum of 15 people at the campsite (as required for a group site), this basically doubles the cost.

After the feedback from those who posted and the BOD, the site has been booked.

The site has pit toilets, fire ring, picnic tables, and drinkable water from a hand pump.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Depending on the response, I am still a go. If we don’t have enough members interested, then we will have to make other plans. Which I am also ok with. We just need some more input from the membership...

If we actually get 15 people to go, it is only $32 per person for the weekend.

It's since it's a longer drive, I'll consume that in fuel alone ;) That's a beautiful area, does anyone know of good trails? Wonder how low the snow line will be?

OK, the site is booked. We had enough positive feedback to go ahead with this. Whoever arrives first, I can email the reservation to you so you will have it on site.

We have the site from Friday, May 17 through Monday, May 20. The BC Parks website says the best access is off of Highway 3 via the Johnstone Creek FSR. This is 43km east of Osoyoos and just before Rock Creek. The campsite itself is 25km in on that road, which is apparently a high grade FSR. Google Maps says about 1 hour, 10 minutes from Osoyoos to the campsite.

Total cost to the club is $483.90 so everyone who is going will need to budget their share. The more people that go, the less it will cost each person so let's make this a good turnout!

We will likely be attending. FYI, for those that are planning on stopping at Doug’s Homestead, they have closed their operation in Hedley and have relocated to Kaleden, just south of Penticton on Hwy 97. They are currently renovating the new location and hoping to be up and running some time in April.
