Post WJ: Dana 30 input seal replacement
Hi All,

I have a leaky pinion seal on the WJ. If I pull the input yoke for the seal replacement do I need to replace the crush sleeve between the bearings before I re-torque? Then do I have to check the bearing preload on the pinion with the axles removed?

Sounds complicated. Or can you slam in a new seal and just re-torque?

You'll probably need to remove the driveshaft first.

I'll try it with the shaft in. Maybe it will save some time.

I always mark the nut position on the pinion. so re tighten to exact same spot. is a quick way of doing it.
small center punch mark on nut and end of pinion works best..
