The plan for the August long weekend this year is to return to Nickel Plate Lake. It has been at least a couple of years since we were there and I think it is time to return.

Runs will include Green Draggin', Geby's Cut, Apex Mountain, French Mine, what's left of Black Powder, and maybe Plain Hard.

For those who are not sure about the location of the campsite, it is here: https://goo.gl/maps/E6LhE3uoCz5kTVUD8

Campers and small trailers can get into the site. Larger trailers, probably not.

Post up if you are going and when you plan to be there.

We will be coming up Friday night. At best, we may leave Chilliwack around 2pm. More likely 5pm.

May be able to come. Be there late and leave early. Kids are in a camp at HMCS Discovery.

I'm planning to go, I'm not sure what you consider a "big" trailer. I think mine would make it in there no problem. The road into the lake on the West side was improved a couple years ago. Leo might have to go a little slower on the road into the lake but should have enough clearance since the culvert is no longer an issue. If the area is filled with other campers it could be tough to turn around or pick a spot with a trailer but if we have the spot to ourselves should be okay.

Just a reminder for those with trailers to take 3A to the Apex resort and then head to the lake area on the West side of the lake.. The east side is rugged and not trailer friendly at all.
The gravel road up from Hedley is a steep gravel road with little room for passing with a trailer on the winding road portions and blind corners. It could be done sure but certainly wouldn't be as safe.

The distance to the resort according to google is about 10min longer than the hill but 40km longer distance. So I'm planning to use the pavement as much as I can.

We should plan to meet at the Save-on-Food/Liquor Store parking lot at 9am
Let me know if you’re ok with that.

Camping at the little lake? It was really tough getting my truck camper and car trailer in there last time

This is the route we are planning to take with our trailer.
From Hope via HWY 3 then HWY 3A to Apex resorts then Pave/dirt road to Nickel Plate Lake.
Approximately 3 hrs from Hope to Campsite.
We should get there around lunchtime if all goes well.
See you in Hope (9am) trailer pullers.
I will be on the Herd Frequency 147.570
Ps: we sent a request for a SUNNY weekend but still waiting for confirmation.

We can go also. No kids, they are at a Cadet camp this weekend.

We will head up Friday evening (save us a patch of dirt for the tent please) and leaving Sunday after wheeling. Hope to do Green Dragin on one of the days we are there.

See y'all when we get there.

We did a scouting run up there this weekend. Checked out the road into the lake. Very rough and rutted as I remember from the past camp out. The broken/exposed culvert has been replaced. We will not be taking our trailer into the lake campsite but will park the trailer in the wide area/gravel pit at the junction of Nickel Plate FSR.

Richard Huff will plan to leave on Friday morning. I am assuming the Gilles is leaving Hope from Save-on-Food/Liquor Store parking lot at 9am. Do not waiting on me.
I finally got all Rubicon problems fixed, at least attemped a fix. New ARB compressor with hose with no clamps, Repaired power steering hose leak and installed in-dash radiator fan switch. I will be trailing my Jeep with Pickup with slide in Camper. Camp spot will be determine when i get to the trailer parking.

Some things have come up at home that needs attention and also the LJ needs a new track bar so we will miss this camp out/wheeling. We will see you all next weekend at the BBQ
