Post VMTA Jan 2021 General Meeting Update
The VMTA had another General Meeting on Jan 28. Here are updates of interest, and / or which affect us as 4-wheelers.

All user groups seem to be happy with the new logo and website update.

New logo, stickers are being pricing out. May do a run of 300 to start.

The mountain has seen tremendous use in the last year, as user groups have found the various recreation types present are a great way to recreate with physical distancing in mind, during Covid-19. We know that to be true ourselves. Parking has been a real problem, in some cases a gong show. RSTBC seems to be interested in helping solve these problems.

Lost Traction ATV Club would like logged area on lower part of FSR as staging area. 4WDABC may join in on this venture as a partnership. Pete, myself and Jeff (Lost Traction) are going to meet to discuss.
Another option we are tossing around is if we can use the old VMMC parking for 4WDABC staging.

4WDABC wants to check-out deactivated part of NW end of Tower Road.
Previous reports are that it is passable but RSTBC may do some more deactivation.

Campsite not happening currently. An archeological assessment needs to be done first and an estimate has come in that is more than the Ministry of FLNRO is willing to spend.

No movement on partnership agreement with RSTBC. Still stalled.

VMTA logo & RSTBC signage at junction at base of FSR road is in the works. May look something like this;
“Multi-use trails: Please respect all user groups”.

First Nation history and significance/integrate signage.
Looking at adding information to kiosks and VMTA Signage.
Seeking input on what the historical First Nation name of Vedder Mountain.

Shooting (no 400m buffer is in most other areas).
Possible Proposal to RSTBC to not allow shooting on Vedder, period.
To be looked at current rules before any action is taken.

Vedder Mountain Clean-up:
Looking at ways to do it within the health rules. Small groups in separate areas. We will wait until next health announcement.
