August long weekend - Apex /Nickel Plate Lake

There are multiple trails in the area for us to explore. We know that there is an unfortunate habit of local ATVers to only cut the trail wide enough for them so please consider bringing a chainsaw or other equipment to assist in trail clearing.

The campsite is accessible for trailers/campers. I plan to head up on the Thursday night or Friday morning to try and secure our spot. This campsite can be quite popular so getting there early is important.

For those who haven't been there before, the campsite is at around 6000 feet elevation. That means it can get warm during the day but chilly at night. Pack accordingly. There is likely to be a campfire ban in effect at the time so we may want to bring a propane fire for the camp.
